Community Guidelines

How we keep GrindUp respectful, honest, and safe.

Last updated 3 July 2026

GrindUp is a community for real, honest powerlifting. Members upload videos of their lifts, the community validates them, and verified performances appear on the rankings. The whole system only works if everyone plays fair. These guidelines explain what we expect — breaking them can lead to your content being removed and, in serious cases, your account being disabled.

Who can use GrindUp

GrindUp is for people aged 15 and over. You must be at least 15, and any lift you post must have been performed when you were at least 15 years old. This is a hard requirement, not a suggestion.

Post honest lifts

Rankings mean nothing if lifts aren't real. When you post a performance:

  • Post your own lift — not someone else's video.
  • Enter accurate information: the weight lifted, your bodyweight, your age, the movement, the equipment used, and the gym. Misrepresenting any of these is not allowed.
  • Film the lift clearly and completely — the full range of motion and the whole lift should be visible and unobstructed. Clips that are too short, obscured, or cut off before the lift is finished can't be fairly validated.
  • Don't stage, edit, or manipulate a video to misrepresent what actually happened.

Vote fairly

Lifts are verified by trust-weighted community voting: members vote on whether a lift is valid, and your influence as a voter grows the more your past votes match the community's final decisions. A lift is verified only once it reaches the required level of trust-weighted community approval. To keep this fair:

  • Vote honestly, based only on what the video actually shows — judging technique and range of motion, whether the entered data looks right, and whether there's enough evidence to make the call.
  • Don't organise or coordinate votes, and don't create or use multiple or fake accounts to influence outcomes. The system is designed to detect and neutralise this.
  • Don't target someone's lifts with dishonest votes or reports because of a personal dispute.

Verification is the community's call. A performance that isn't verified can still stay on your profile, but it won't count toward GrindUp rankings.

Keep content appropriate

GrindUp is about lifting. Sexual or pornographic content, nudity, and other explicit material are not allowed in videos or profile pictures, and will be removed. Profile images are also screened for adult or violent content and offensive text. Keep your footage focused on the lift.

Respect other people

The community only works if people feel safe. The following are not allowed:

  • Harassment and bullying — targeted abuse, threats, stalking behaviour, or repeated unwanted contact.
  • Hate speech — attacks or slurs based on who someone is.
  • Violence — threats or content that promotes or glorifies violence.
  • Spam — repetitive, misleading, or unsolicited content, including scams.
  • Impersonation — pretending to be someone else, and abusive or misleading usernames.
  • Illegal or infringing content — including content that violates someone else's copyright or other rights.

Reporting

If you see a lift, comment, profile, or gym that breaks these guidelines, report it — from inside the app where you can, or by emailing support@grindup.app with a link or screenshot and a short description. Reports help us keep the community honest and safe.

Please report in good faith. Filing false reports, or using reporting to harass another member, is itself a violation and may result in restrictions on your account.

Enforcement

Depending on the severity and how often it happens, breaking these guidelines can lead to:

  • Content being removed or hidden from feeds, profiles, and rankings.
  • A performance not counting toward GrindUp rankings.
  • Your account being disabled by an administrator for serious or repeated violations.
