Terms of Service

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the GrindUp mobile application (the "App" or the "Service"), available on iOS and Android, published by Maxime Scigala, sole trader, trading as GrindUp ("GrindUp", "we").

By creating an account or using the App, you accept these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy (https://grindup.app/privacy). If you do not accept these documents, you must not use the Service.

2. Effective date / version

• Version: technical version identifier 2026-06-25 (kept in step with the legal-consent version recorded in the app).
• Effective date: 3 July 2026.

Acceptance of the Terms is collected when the account is created (a mandatory checkbox) and recorded with a version number. In the event of a material change to the Terms, a new acceptance is requested in the App before you continue using it (see section 21). No IP address is recorded with your acceptance; only the accepted version, the date, the interface language and the acceptance context (sign-up or re-acceptance) are kept.

3. Service publisher

4. Purpose of the service

GrindUp is a social app for strength sports (powerlifting) and strength training. It notably lets you:

• publish short videos of your performances (in particular squat, bench press, deadlift) or of your training;
• submit your performances for community validation: other users vote to assess whether the declared performance appears credible and compliant;
• appear in leaderboards internal to GrindUp (world, country, gym), by category (sex, age, bodyweight category, equipment);
• interact with other users: profiles, follows, comments, likes, private messages, reports;
• reference and associate your performances with gyms;
• where applicable, subscribe to the paid GrindUp+ plan (section 15).

What GrindUp is not. GrindUp is not a sports federation, does not organise official competitions and does not homologate any record in a sporting or regulatory sense. GrindUp provides no coaching, medical advice or sports supervision. The validations, badges and leaderboards produced by the Service are indicators specific to GrindUp: they have no official sporting value outside the App, do not constitute a federation ranking and confer no official sporting title (see sections 9 and 10).

5. Access conditions and account creation

5.1 Access. The Service is accessed through the GrindUp mobile app (iOS and Android). Viewing and using the features requires an account and an internet connection. There is no web version of the Service.

5.2 Sign-up methods. You can create an account:

• with e-mail and password (a password of at least 8 characters, including at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one digit) — e-mail verification is mandatory before the account is activated;
• via your Google account;
• via your Apple account (on iOS only).

No profile is created and no profile data is published until sign-up is completed (and, for e-mail/password accounts, until the address is verified).

5.3 Profile data at sign-up. Sign-up requires: a username, your date of birth, your sex (used for the ranking categories), your country and your preferred weight unit (kg or lb). Your exact date of birth is never shown to other users. However, the declared sex / competitive category is used to build the ranking categories: this information, as well as the age or age category at the time of the performance and the bodyweight category, may be visible, accessible or inferable through the leaderboards, filters, performance cards and profiles (see section 10.5).

5.4 Username. The username is 3 to 20 characters (letters, digits, underscore), is unique (case-insensitive) and can be changed at most once every 30 days. You must not choose a username that infringes third-party rights (impersonation, trademark, hateful content, etc.). GrindUp may remove an unlawful username.

5.5 Personal account. The account is personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your credentials and for the activities carried out from your account. In the event of unauthorised use, contact us without delay (section 23).

5.6 Technical integrity. Access to the Service is reserved for the official GrindUp app running on a genuine device. We may use app- and device-integrity attestation mechanisms, rate limits (number of actions per hour or per day) and reinforced restrictions during the first 24 hours after an account is created (limited publishing, votes, messages and comments), to prevent fraud, spam and vote manipulation.

6. Minimum age and accuracy of information

6.1 Minimum age. The Service is reserved for people aged at least 15. People under 15 cannot create an account. The date of birth declared at sign-up is checked and sign-up is refused below the minimum age; a performance whose declared date would correspond to an age below the minimum is also refused. Some competitive categories shown in the leaderboards may cover theoretical age ranges broader than the minimum age of access to the Service; GrindUp remains reserved for users aged 15 and over.

6.2 Minors (15–17). If you are between 15 and 17, you declare that you have obtained your legal guardians' authorisation to use the Service and, where applicable, to show your image in your videos. This authorisation does not allow a person under 15 to create an account: the Service remains prohibited to those under 15 (section 6.1).

6.3 Accuracy of information. You undertake to provide accurate and up-to-date information. Certain information directly conditions the ranking categories and is not freely editable after sign-up:

• the declared sex and country are frozen after sign-up (a correction can be requested from support);
• the date of birth can be corrected in the App, at most once every 30 days; the categories of already-validated performances are not recalculated.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the competitive-category information you declare (sex/competitive category, date of birth, country, and bodyweight when requested): it determines the categories and leaderboards in which your performances appear, in particular the bodyweight category derived from your bodyweight. GrindUp does not verify users' civil identity.

7. How GrindUp works

7.1 Content feeds. The App offers, in particular: a validation feed (videos awaiting votes), a performance feed (accepted videos) and a discipline / lifestyle feed (training content with no ranking stake).

7.2 Public profiles. Profiles (username, profile photo, banner, country, biography, personal records, follower/following counts, GrindUp+ badge where applicable) and published content are visible to all signed-in users. There is no "private account" mode. Do not publish anything you do not want to be visible to the whole community.

7.3 Gyms. Users can reference gyms (name, city, country, location) and associate their performances with a gym. These entries are created by the community: GrindUp does not guarantee their accuracy and is not affiliated with any gym. Creations are capped (3 gyms per user per 24 h), filtered (clearly hateful or fanciful names refused) and may be merged, corrected or deleted by our team, in particular following a report.

7.4 Social interactions. You can follow other users, like and comment on videos (comments limited to 1,000 characters, replies limited to one level), and send private messages (two-person conversations only, messages limited to 1,000 characters). Private messages are visible only to the participants in the conversation; they are not end-to-end encrypted and may be processed by GrindUp where strictly necessary for technical operation, security, moderation or compliance with a legal obligation. Sent messages can be neither edited nor deleted. Comments can be edited by their author, deleted by their author, hidden by the video owner or removed by moderation.

7.5 Blocking. You can block a user. Blocking removes follow relationships in both directions and prevents interactions between the two accounts (messages, comments, votes, likes, follows, some reports). Blocking does not make your public content invisible to the blocked user: profiles and videos remain public content within the Service.

7.6 Notifications. The App issues notifications (validation or rejection of a video, moderation result, new follower, message, comment, etc.). You can disable push notifications globally or by category in the settings; some critical notifications (removal of content by moderation, processing failure) remain delivered within the app. Notifications are kept for at most 90 days.

7.7 Service evolution. GrindUp is a service under active development: features, calculation rules and interfaces may change (see section 16).

8. Publishing content and videos

8.1 Content types. You can publish:

• performance videos (a single repetition per video), intended for community validation and the leaderboards;
• discipline / lifestyle videos, without validation or ranking;
• a profile photo and profile customisation elements;
• texts (biography, comments, messages) and gym entries.

8.2 Technical video constraints. Duration of 3 to 60 seconds (the limit is also checked server-side), maximum size of 250 MB, accepted formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM. Profile photos are limited to 5 MB (JPEG, PNG, WebP). These limits may change.

8.3 Declared metadata. For a performance video, you declare in particular: the movement, the weight lifted, your bodyweight, the date of the performance, the equipment worn (belt, knee sleeves, wraps, singlet, etc.) and, if you wish, the gym. The App converts and records weights in kilograms and refuses clearly implausible values. This metadata is frozen at publication: it determines your ranking categories (sex, age, bodyweight category, equipment "raw", "wraps", "straps" or "equipped") at the time of the performance. Limited corrections are only possible in the cases provided for (revalidation — section 9.6; the one-time addition of a gym to a video published without a gym). Your exact bodyweight may be requested in order to determine the applicable bodyweight category and to preserve the integrity of the leaderboards. Surfaces visible to other users show the derived bodyweight category, not the exact bodyweight of each video (the exact bodyweight is kept in a private server area, inaccessible to other users). The other declared metadata (movement, weight, date of the performance, equipment, gym) accompanies the published performance and may be visible to other users, like the performance itself. Your exact bodyweight is processed under the conditions described in the Privacy Policy (section 20).

8.4 Automated prior moderation. Every video is analysed automatically before publication (explicit-content detection, via a Google video-analysis service). Depending on the result: the video is published, rejected, or placed in manual review by our team. In the event of a technical incident, the video is placed in review rather than published (precautionary principle). Profile photos follow an equivalent process (detection of sensitive content and offensive text; duplicate detection used only as an assessment element). You are notified of the result. Automated and human moderation is not a guarantee that no unlawful content is present (section 19).

8.5 Rejection and technical retention. If rejected, the video is not published. A technical copy of the rejected content may be kept temporarily for evidence, handling of appeals and improvement of moderation, then deleted. The applicable retention periods are set out in the Privacy Policy (§14).

8.6 Deletion by the user. You can delete your videos at any time. The video disappears immediately from feeds and profiles; the associated files and data (votes, comments) are permanently erased within about 7 days, except where retention is justified by security, moderation, evidence of a report, the defence of rights or a legal obligation (sections 13.4 and 17.4; detail in the Privacy Policy). Deleting a validated performance triggers the recalculation of your records and the leaderboards concerned.

8.7 Visibility. Published content is visible to all signed-in users. Delivery of video and image files relies on a content delivery network (CDN); anyone with the direct link to a published file can technically access it.

8.8 Your warranties. By publishing content, you warrant:

• that you hold all the necessary rights (you are the author of the video or hold the required authorisations);
• that you have obtained the authorisation of the identifiable people appearing in the content (image rights and, where applicable, voice), including third parties in the background in a gym;
• that you comply with the rules of the filming location (some gyms prohibit or regulate video recording);
• that the declared information (weight, bodyweight, date, gym, equipment) is accurate;
• that the content complies with these Terms and the law.

9. Community validation of performances

9.1 Principle. Performance videos are submitted to the community's vote. Each eligible user can vote "valid" or "not valid"; a negative vote must be justified by one of the proposed reasons: incorrect technique, suspicious data or insufficient evidence.

9.2 Vote weighting. Votes are weighted by an internal trust score assigned to each voter, recalculated regularly based on how their past votes matched the final decisions. The trust score is not shown publicly and does not reveal individual votes. It is used to weight votes and may be accessible to the user concerned (through their own validation statistics) or to administrators where necessary for operation, security or support. New voters have a reduced weight until they have a history.

9.3 Decision. As an indication, a performance is currently accepted when at least 10 votes have been cast and the weighted approval rate reaches 70%; otherwise it is rejected. These parameters are specific to each video (they are recorded at the time of submission) and may be adjusted by GrindUp for future submissions. If rejected, you are told the score obtained, the required threshold and the main reason retained by the voters — never the identity of the voters or the detail of the votes. Individual votes are confidential: they are not shown publicly and are not disclosed to other users; they may nonetheless be processed by GrindUp to operate the validation system, for security, audit, fraud prevention or moderation (section 9.6).

9.4 Voting rules. You cannot vote on your own videos, or on those of a user with whom a block exists. A vote is final and cannot be changed. Recent (under 24 h) and incomplete accounts cannot vote. Votes are capped in frequency. Any vote manipulation (multiple accounts, vote trading, automation) is prohibited (section 12).

9.5 Suspension of the decision. GrindUp may temporarily suspend the finalisation of a video's validation that is subject to integrity checks (votes continue to be recorded).

9.6 Revalidation (second chance). A performance rejected by the community may be submitted for a new validation once, at your initiative. On that occasion, you can correct a limited input error: the weight, the bodyweight, the date of the performance and the declared equipment. The movement, the gym and the country cannot be changed (delete and republish the video to change them). Revalidation resets the counters: previous votes are archived for internal audit and the same users can vote again. Decisions made by GrindUp (administrative rejection) or under the official / PRO submission lane (section 11) cannot be revalidated.

9.7 Scope of validation. An accepted performance is said to be "community-validated" or "verified on GrindUp" — never "official". Community validation is a peer-review mechanism specific to GrindUp. It may be imperfect: a performance may be wrongly validated or wrongly rejected. It does not constitute a certification, a homologation, or an official finding of a record. You have no vested right to the validation of a performance, and voters act neither as official referees nor on behalf of GrindUp. GrindUp may cancel or correct a validation in the event of fraud, error or a breach of the Terms.

10. Leaderboards, records and statistics

10.1 Ranking surfaces. GrindUp offers two surfaces: Open (any eligible performance, including those pending validation) and Verified — the "Verified Leaderboards" — bringing together community-validated performances and official / PRO submissions approved by GrindUp administration (section 11). Leaderboards are established by category (sex, age category, bodyweight category, equipment), at world, country and gym level, on the basis of the heaviest weight (no IPF/DOTS/Wilks-type points formula is applied; the category grids draw on the IPF categories merely as a reference).

10.2 Exclusions. Excluded from the leaderboards are: rejected performances, deleted videos, content whose visibility has been restricted by moderation, and disabled or being-deleted accounts.

10.3 Nature of the leaderboards. The Verified Leaderboards are specific to GrindUp. They do not constitute an official ranking of a sports federation, except where explicitly stated otherwise for certain PRO submissions linked to an external source (section 11). The leaderboards, records, badges ("Verified", "Pro", "Official") and statistics are indicators internal to GrindUp, computed automatically from the data declared by users and community validations. They have no official sporting value, bind no federation and may be recalculated, corrected or reset at any time (in particular in the event of detected fraud, data correction, gym merges or changes to the calculation rules). GrindUp is affiliated neither with the IPF, nor with any federation, nor with the OpenPowerlifting website.

10.4 Display by plan. Some levels of detail (exact rank, percentile, country rank, advanced filters, history and analytics) are reserved for GrindUp+ subscribers (section 15); free users have a bracketed display and capped views.

10.5 Displayed and inferable data. The declared sex or competitive category, the age or age category at the time of the performance and the declared bodyweight are used to rank performances and preserve the integrity of the leaderboards. The exact bodyweight is used to derive the bodyweight category: surfaces visible to other users show the derived bodyweight category, not the exact bodyweight of each video (which is kept in a private server area, not exposed to other users). The bodyweight category may appear in the Verified Leaderboards, filters, performance cards, profiles or record (PR) cards; the same applies to the declared sex/competitive category and to the age or age category at the time of the performance, which may be visible, accessible or inferable through those surfaces. The leaderboards additionally show your username, your country and the weight lifted. Your exact date of birth is never shown.

11. Official / PRO submissions

11.1 "Verified athlete" status. Users with official competition results can request "verified athlete" status. The current procedure relies on a verification code to be sent through a channel designated by GrindUp (for example GrindUp's official Instagram account) in order to establish the match with a public results profile (OpenPowerlifting). The grant is decided manually by GrindUp, which may refuse or revoke it. This status is not a legal identity verification.

11.2 PRO submissions. Verified athletes can submit a "PRO" performance corresponding to an official competition result referenced on OpenPowerlifting (a mandatory result link to openpowerlifting.org, one submission = one official movement). These submissions do not go through the community vote: they are reviewed and then approved or rejected by GrindUp administration. An approved submission joins the Verified Leaderboards with the "Official" label, which means only that the performance is from an external source of competition results and has been approved by GrindUp administration — it is neither awarded nor homologated by a federation or a sporting authority. A rejection cannot be revalidated; a new submission is possible.

11.3 Third-party data. OpenPowerlifting is a third-party database independent of GrindUp. GrindUp does not guarantee its accuracy or availability. Revoking verified-athlete status blocks future PRO submissions; already-approved performances keep the "Official" label unless individually reviewed.

12. Rules of conduct and prohibited content

You undertake to use the Service fairly, in a sporting and respectful manner. The following are notably prohibited:

Prohibited content:

• any illegal content or content infringing third-party rights (copyright, trademarks, image rights, privacy);
• nudity and sexual or pornographic content;
• gratuitous violence, incitement to hatred, discrimination, harassment, threats, defamation and insults;
• spam, unauthorised advertising content and misleading links;
• dangerous misinformation (in particular pseudo health or doping advice);
• any content depicting minors inappropriately.

Prohibited behaviour:

• publishing faked or misleading performances (falsified weights, inaccurate bodyweight, concealed equipment, edited video, false date or gym);
• manipulating validation or the leaderboards (multiple accounts, vote trading or buying, report brigading, automation);
• impersonating a third party or falsely claiming a status (athlete, GrindUp representative, gym);
• filming or publishing the image of third parties without authorisation;
• creating fictitious, hateful or misleading gym entries;
• making abusive or bad-faith reports;
• accessing the Service by automated means, mass-collecting data (scraping), circumventing technical limits (rate limits, integrity attestation, moderation) or using a modified version of the App;
• decompiling, disassembling or reverse-engineering the App, except in cases expressly permitted by law;
• disrupting the operation of the Service (overload, exploitation of vulnerabilities, code injection).

GrindUp tolerates no objectionable content or abusive behaviour: any breach may lead to the removal of the content concerned and to graduated, proportionate measures up to and including the suspension or disabling of the account (section 13).

Declaring an inaccurate bodyweight or misleading competitive-category data (sex/competitive category, age, equipment, gym) is treated as an attack on performance integrity: it can be reported (section 13.1) and lead, depending on severity, to the rejection of the performance, a moderation measure, exclusion from the leaderboards, or suspension or restriction of the account (sections 10.3 and 13.2).

13. Reporting, moderation and sanctions

13.1 Reporting. Each video, comment, profile and gym entry can be reported from the App, with reasons adapted to the content: safety reasons (violence, nudity, harassment, hate, spam, inappropriate content, counterfeiting, etc.), sporting-integrity reasons reserved for verified performances (inaccurate weight, suspicious bodyweight, wrong movement, inaccurate equipment, suspected-fake performance, wrong gym) and gym-specific reasons (fictitious gym, duplicate, incorrect information). Reports are capped (currently 20 per 24 h) and deduplicated. We endeavour to review reports within a reasonable time, prioritising content that presents a risk to users, third parties or the integrity of the Service. Abusive or repeated bad-faith reports may lead to restrictions on their author's account.

13.2 Moderation measures. In the event of a breach of the Terms, the law, or on an authority's order, GrindUp may notably, in a graduated and proportionate manner:

• reject content before publication (automated or manual moderation);
• remove or delete published content (video, comment, profile photo, banner, gym entry);
• restrict the visibility or reach of content (removal from public feeds, exclusion from the leaderboards, suspension of promotion to the "Verified" surface), including on a precautionary basis during a check;
• cancel or refuse a validation (final administrative rejection, not revalidable);
• remove a gym name and block its recreation;
• restrict certain account features, temporarily suspend or disable an account (blocking sign-in and hiding content). If disabled, the account's follow relationships are removed and are not restored, even if the account is reactivated;
• report manifestly unlawful content to the competent authorities where required by law.

13.3 Information and appeal. In the event of removal, visibility restriction, suspension or another moderation measure, GrindUp may provide the user concerned with information about the measure taken and its reason — this is notably the case when a video is removed or rejected (you are informed by notification) — unless the law, Service security, the protection of a third party or abuse prevention prevents it. You can contest any moderation decision (rejection or removal of content, visibility restriction, cancellation of validation, suspension or disabling of the account) by writing to support@grindup.app, indicating the content or account concerned and your reasons; we re-examine the decision within a reasonable time and inform you of the outcome.

13.4 Retention for evidence. Reports, moderation decisions, the associated audit logs and, where applicable, a copy of removed content may be kept to the extent necessary for the management of disputes, the security of the Service and compliance with our legal obligations, including after the deletion of the content or account concerned.

14. Rights over published content

14.1 You remain the owner. You keep all your intellectual property rights in the content you publish (videos, photos, texts).

14.2 Licence granted to GrindUp. By publishing content, you grant GrindUp a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence, for as long as the content is online (and the technical and legal retention periods described in sections 8, 13 and 17), for the sole purpose of operating the Service, including the right to:

• host, store, back up and reproduce the content;
• convert and technically adapt it (transcoding, compression, thumbnail and playback-stream generation, image resizing);
• distribute and display it within the App, associated with your username and the declared metadata, including via content delivery networks;
• submit it to automated and human moderation analysis;
• use it for the operation of validations and leaderboards within the App;
• secure it (backups, technical logs) and keep a copy as evidence where necessary (section 13.4);
• disclose it to our technical processors (hosting, delivery) strictly for the purposes above.

This licence entails no waiver of your moral rights; the technical adaptations (transcoding, display formats, thumbnails) are limited to what is necessary to operate the Service. Any external promotional or advertising use (social media, app stores, marketing materials) is excluded from this licence; if such use is desired, it will be the subject of a separate clause and/or your specific consent.

14.3 End of the licence. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the technical deletion periods (about 7 days for videos, a 7-day withdrawal period for account deletion) and retention justified by a legal or evidential reason (section 13.4).

14.4 Other users' content. The Terms grant you no right over other users' content beyond viewing it within the App. Any download, reuse or redistribution outside the App without the author's authorisation is prohibited.

14.5 GrindUp's elements. The App, the GrindUp brand, the logos, interfaces, banners and software elements remain the exclusive property of GrindUp or its licensors. No right is transferred to you, other than a personal, non-exclusive right to use the App.

15. GrindUp+ subscriptions

The following terms apply to GrindUp+ subscriptions. GrindUp may at any time suspend the sale of new subscriptions without affecting ongoing subscriptions.

15.1 Content of the offer. GrindUp+ is a single subscription. The paid features available are described in the App at the time of purchase. They may include, for example: exact ranks and percentiles (world and country) and their weekly variation, advanced progression analytics, advanced leaderboard and feed filters, extended ranking depth, profile customisation options (exclusive banners, PR-card themes, featured performances). The scope may change; changes will not substantially reduce the offer during an ongoing paid subscription.

15.2 Subscription and price. The subscription is offered on a monthly basis, purchased exclusively through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play. Prices, currencies and any trial periods are shown in the App before purchase, as provided by the app store. Payment, billing and collection are carried out by Apple or Google under their own terms; GrindUp has no access to your payment data. A technical provider (RevenueCat) processes your subscription state on GrindUp's behalf.

15.3 Automatic renewal and cancellation. The subscription is auto-renewing: it renews each month at the then-current price until cancelled. You can cancel at any time, at the latest 24 hours before the renewal date, from your App Store or Google Play account settings (the App provides a management link). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period; you keep access until that date. Deleting the app or your GrindUp account does not cancel the subscription: cancellation must be done through the store.

15.4 Withdrawal and refunds. As purchases are made through Apple or Google, refund requests are subject to those platforms' conditions and must be sent to them. Where a refund is granted by the platform, the corresponding GrindUp+ access is revoked. Your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable law are unaffected.

15.5 Activation and payment incidents. Activation of the benefits may take a few moments after purchase confirmation (synchronisation with our servers); a "Restore purchase" function is available in the App. If payment fails at renewal, access may be maintained during a grace period managed by the store, then suspended.

15.6 End of the subscription. On expiry, GrindUp+ features become inaccessible again and the premium display of your profile reverts to the standard display. Your customisation choices are kept and reactivated in the event of a new subscription.

15.7 Free trials. Where a trial period is offered, its conditions (duration, automatic conversion into a paid subscription in the absence of cancellation) are shown before subscribing, in accordance with the store's rules.

16. Availability, maintenance and evolution of the service

16.1 Availability. GrindUp is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee continuous access, without interruption or error. Maintenance operations, technical incidents, mandatory app updates or failures of third-party providers (hosting, stores, notifications) may temporarily limit access.

16.2 Feature switches. To protect the Service (costs, security, abuse, incidents), GrindUp may temporarily suspend certain features (video publishing, content feeds, votes, messages, leaderboards, subscription sales) without notice. Suspending subscription sales never affects the access of ongoing subscribers.

16.3 Usage limits. Quotas and rate limits apply to actions (publications, votes, comments, messages, reports, gym creation, searches, etc.), for security and fairness. These limits may change.

16.4 Evolution and discontinuation. GrindUp may change, replace or remove features. In the event of the permanent discontinuation of the Service or of a substantial feature, users will be informed within a reasonable time and, for ongoing subscriptions, the stores' refund rules will apply.

17. Account deletion

17.1 Request. You can delete your account at any time from the App settings. For your security, a recent re-authentication is required.

17.2 7-day withdrawal period. Deletion is first scheduled over 7 days: your account is frozen (no action possible), your content is hidden from all public surfaces (feeds, leaderboards, records, gyms), and you can cancel the deletion during that period by signing in again and confirming the cancellation. Cancellation restores your content and leaves no trace visible to other users.

17.3 Permanent deletion. After the 7 days, deletion becomes irreversible: deleted are, in particular, your profile and its private data (date of birth, sex, preferences, consents), your videos and their files, your profile photos, your comments, your likes, your follow relationships, your notifications, your registered devices, your statistics and rankings, your usage data and your authentication account.

17.4 Data retained, pseudonymized or anonymized. By way of exception:

• your conversations are kept for the other participant, with your identity anonymized (username and photo removed);
• your validation votes on other users' videos are kept in a non-public form, because they underpin decisions already made and the integrity of the validation system;
• your reports and the associated moderation/billing logs are kept for integrity, audit and legal-compliance purposes; after your account is deleted, your reporter identity is pseudonymized (the raw account ID is no longer retained);
• the technical billing records linked to subscriptions (subscription events) are kept for audit purposes.

The detail of the periods and legal bases appears in the Privacy Policy. Pseudonymized data is no longer linked to your account, but pseudonymization is not the same as irreversible anonymization.

17.5 Subscriptions. Deleting the account does not cancel an ongoing GrindUp+ subscription: cancel it separately from your App Store or Google Play account.

17.6 Apple accounts. If your account is linked to Apple, GrindUp endeavours to revoke the associated "Sign in with Apple" tokens when the deletion is requested.

18. User responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

• the content you publish (videos, images, texts, gym entries) and the performance and competitive-category data you declare — the weight lifted, the bodyweight when requested, the declared sex/competitive category, the date- or age-related data (date of birth, date of the performance), the assigned gym and the equipment — which must be accurate, including their consequences on the categories and leaderboards;
• respecting third-party rights (image rights, intellectual property, privacy) and the rules of the places where you film;
• your interactions with other users (comments, messages, votes, reports);
• the security of your credentials and your device;
• the compliance of your use with the applicable law.

Sport practised at your own risk. Strength sport carries a risk of injury. GrindUp is a sharing and ranking platform: it provides no supervision, training advice, medical opinion or safety guarantee. You train under your sole responsibility; consult a health professional if in doubt. Do not attempt a weight on the grounds that it would be required for a ranking.

You undertake to indemnify GrindUp for the direct consequences of any third-party claim based on content you have published or a use of the Service contrary to the Terms, within the limits permitted by law.

19. GrindUp's liability

19.1 Role of hosting user content. The content published on GrindUp comes from users. For this content, GrindUp acts principally as a hosting provider within the meaning of the applicable regulation (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 "DSA"; French Act No. 2004-575 "LCEN"), subject to the applicable legal qualification: GrindUp does not exercise generalised prior editorial control and its liability for such content can only be engaged under the conditions provided for by law (failure to promptly remove manifestly unlawful content duly notified). The moderation mechanisms described in section 13 are voluntary security measures and do not create a general monitoring obligation.

19.2 No guarantee on validations and leaderboards. GrindUp guarantees neither the accuracy of the data declared by users, nor the soundness of community validations, nor the stability of the leaderboards, which may be recalculated or corrected (sections 9 and 10). GrindUp does not guarantee the accuracy of data from third-party sources (OpenPowerlifting, community-created gym entries).

19.3 Limitation of liability. Within the limits permitted by law, GrindUp's liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damage caused by a breach attributable to it. GrindUp is not liable for damage resulting from: a non-compliant use of the Service, the content and actions of users, a loss of ranking, badge or status, the temporary unavailability of the Service (section 16), or the failure of third-party services (app stores, payment systems, hosting, networks).

19.4 What this clause does not exclude. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits GrindUp's liability in the event of gross or wilful misconduct, personal injury caused by its fault, or in any other case where the law prohibits such a limitation. The legal guarantees and mandatory rights you enjoy as a consumer (in particular the legal guarantee of conformity applicable to digital services and content) remain unchanged.

19.5 Force majeure. GrindUp is not liable for breaches caused by a force-majeure event within the meaning of Article 1218 of the French Civil Code.

20. Protection of personal data

The processing of your personal data is described in the Privacy Policy (https://grindup.app/privacy), which is part of the documents accepted at sign-up. In summary (without replacing the Privacy Policy):

• some infrastructure may be operated in the European Union where configured that way, but some providers may process data outside the European Union or the European Economic Area; the applicable details and safeguards appear in the Privacy Policy (§13);
• your exact date of birth is never made public; the exact bodyweight you declare is processed under the conditions described in the Privacy Policy: it is used to determine the bodyweight category and to preserve the integrity of the leaderboards, and is not shown to other users (it is kept in a private server area); however, the declared sex/competitive category, the age or age category at the time of the performance and the derived bodyweight category may be visible or inferable through the leaderboards and performance cards (sections 5.3, 8.3 and 10.5);
• your consent to the legal documents is recorded without an IP address;
• internal usage data (impressions, sessions, votes) and technical incident reports (without identity enrichment) are collected for the operation and reliability of the Service;
• deleting the account triggers the erasure described in section 17;
• you have the rights provided for by the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, objection, portability, restriction), exercisable at support@grindup.app.

21. Changes to the Terms

GrindUp may amend these Terms, in particular to reflect changes in the Service, legal obligations or app-store requirements. In the event of a material change, you are informed in the App and a new acceptance is requested before you continue using it; the accepted version and its date are recorded. Changes do not apply retroactively. If you refuse the new Terms, you must stop using the Service and can delete your account (section 17); ongoing subscriptions remain governed by the cancellation rules of section 15.

22. Governing law / dispute resolution

22.1 Governing law. These Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of habitual residence within the European Union.

22.2 Prior complaint. If you have a difficulty, first contact support (section 23); we endeavour to resolve complaints amicably.

22.3 Courts. Failing an amicable resolution, the dispute will be brought before the competent French courts; if you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings before the court of your place of residence or any other court with territorial jurisdiction under the law.
